Pamos is a unique cannabis beverage company offering consumers THC-infused cocktails and spirits and is committed to social experiences free from alcohol and guilt. Pamos has primarily focused on customers in the U.S. with primarily retail presence in California, however, they wanted to expand their digital presence throughout the U.S. by having a compliant, high-performance eCommerce website for THC and CBD beverage products with multiple domains and end-user customer segments.

CHALLENGES
In the process of expanding Pamos’ digital presence using cannabis digital brand website best practices, one of the first challenges was navigating the regulations and restrictions imposed by the cannabis industry which also factored restrictions into payment processing for THC products so certified payment options had to be established. Facilities had role-based access restrictions to exclusive merchandise and wholesale products so assigning and restricting visibility of products was one of the key features to configure. Bundled products also had restrictions based on customer type and shipping restrictions also required restricting shipping based on customer ZIP codes to eliminate shipping to the banned states. The Pamos website was also consistently under attack by bots, spam form submissions, and brute-force login attempts, and therefore required a strong layer of multi-layered protection. The marketing team also needed access to easy landing page templates to launch campaigns frequently and easily with no technical support. There was also multi-domain management that needed to comply with laws while offering topical content.APPROCAHES
We built a custom WooCommerce site using AWS services to custom configure and integrate the THC and CBD product lines with product and brand-specific compliance processes all in a single backend. The payment processor routed THC orders through certified delivery partners, while the Bankful gateway serviced CBD orders. We then used custom WooCommerce hooks and metadata to provide a role-based visibility for product and bundled product listings using custom rules and logic. Advanced shipping restrictions based on ZIP/state boundaries provided real-time cart validation. We addressed bot mitigation and anti-scraping tied to limited service provider protection of a Cloudflare firewall, their Al-powered Google reCAPTCHA v3 and server level additional source mitigation. Marketing could also be more independent, as we built out dynamic pages using ACF to create custom post types with an easy to navigate dashboard for editor (non-programmer) users. The coupon functionality now had automated validation based on user-role, usage limits and cart value rules, which we then enhanced for validation on access, minimum order and pricing with a custom wholesale plugin. We also created a multisite style web management harnessing independent multi-domain admin configuration along with an automated system for redirecting and delivering IP-based content while complying with all legal requirements and providing a unified experience. Overall, the finished platform is fully responsive, secured, scalable and optimised to expand.
